Noted South Asian Community leader Habib M. Habib was honored with the Community Voice Award at the 15th Annual Asian Pacific American Community Voice Award dinner by the International Examiner in 2005, the first ever non-profit Asian American news publication established in 1974. 

From serving as continuing Treasurer of the Washington State Democratic Central committee since 2003, past Vice-Chair of the 44th Legislative District Democrats and Commissioner to the Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific Affairs- a position appointed by former Washington State Governor and current US Commerce Secretary Gary Locke – Habib is known for his dedication to the community. 

He was appointed as Chairman of the Community Advisory Council of Snohomish County for 2005-2006. Habib has also served as the founder President of Indian Arts and Heritage Society and in 2001 was the recipient of the “Vision in America” award by the International Channel Network. The Northwest Asian Weekly also honored him in 1997 as one of the top contributors to the Asian community.

Habib was born in Tanzania and spent his childhood in Africa before moving to England in 1965 to study accounting. In England he spent many years in British Politics during the 1970s working with the Liberal party. In 1978, Habib left England and moved to US and eventually settled in the Washington State since 1988. He lives in Marysville with his wife Sakina and daughters Natasha, Sabrina and Farah.
