Bio: Manas Ranjan Mohanty
After spending more than thirty years in the State Judicial Service, Manas Ranjan Mohanty took voluntary retirement in 2000, when he was the District Judge at Khurda in Orissa. Inspired by his own success in the execution of thousands of pending court cases under Lok Adalat or “People’s Court” system of the Government during 1987-97, he started his own practice under “Help Line”, a law firm he established to help mainly those who do not have resources to pay for lawyers and their legal fees.
Known for his dedication¸ strict principles and integrity¸ Mohanty is a trusted and respected figure among his clients, which include the Orissa Mining Corporation and Department of International Development of the British Government. He coordinates the efforts of WASITRAC in Orissa.
