Bio: Smarak Bhuyan
Smarak has a Masters degree in Information management from University of Texas at Dallas. He has several years of experience international business and has worked with people hailing from different cultures across the globe. As someone who has dabbled with international trade, Smarak has a very good understanding of challenges an international trader faces. He is a strong proponent of free market capitalism and believes that trade advocacy groups has to play a more active role in shaping future trade policies between US and India.
Social concerns occupy an equally important space in his consciousness. Primary amongst these has been his support for NGO’s working in India. Smarak has organized national seminars in the US furthering the cause of NGO’s in Orissa, India and ideating on improvement of primary education in Orissa, India. Smarak is a collaborator and has a knack of bringing together people with different worldviews to forge meaningful partnerships. He has finesse in fundraising and has worked with many NGO’s in the past including ASHA.
In a piquant twist to the tale, Smarak is also a For-ex trader, a foreign policy wonk, and has keen interest in geopolitical changes in the global landscape and its implication on For-Ex markets. He is a member of several For-Ex trading groups in San Francisco bay area where he lives with his wife Shumi, and works for eBay Inc.
